How to Plan Your Week In Less Than an Hour

What if I told you you could plan out your whole week in less than an hour? Being organized does not mean you have to plan for hours and hours and I'm here to show you how you can do it in as little time as possible. For starters you will want to grab a piece of paper to jot down everything. Once you go through all the steps I'll be talking about below, feel free to populate your calendar, bullet journal or planner for the week.

  • Start by jotting down birthdays and events you might have that week, if you don't have any of those just skip this step.
  • Next, go through your last week's to-do list and see if there's anything you haven't completed. If so, jot that down on your paper so you can complete it in the upcoming week. After that write down new to-dos you might have.
  • The next step is to plan your meals. This is totally optional but it will save you a ton of time during the week, not to mention the headaches. Write down all the meals you want to have during the week as well as time to meal-prep them.
  • Plan your non-negotiables. This is the time to write down your workouts, appointments and any other things that have to be done that week and can't be postponed. These things are the core to your weekly planning, meaning you will plan your week around them.

Now it's time to take all that information you've written on that paper and start populating your calendar. Everything that has a specific hour already goes in first. Then you will add the other tasks on the time-slots that weren't populated. Don't forget to make sure you don't overbook yourself!

How do you usually plan out your week? Let me know in the comments!

Best Trendy (and Affordable) Bags For S/S 2019

Spring/ Summer 2019 is all about past bag trends coming back from the dead. All over the runways, we've been seeing the revival of 90's and early 2000's fashion with trends like shoulder purses and belt bags. If you're not willing to spend a huge amount of money in a trendy piece, here are my top picks for the trendiest and most affordable bags for Spring/Summer 2019.

Looking fashionable and comfortable at the same time can sometimes be difficult. I grew up hearing the phrase ''Sofrer para ser bela'' (''suffer to be beautiful'') and while that sounds extremely bad, it's pretty true. Nowadays though, I think people have kind of stopped associating looking fashionable with 12-inch heels and skin-tight dresses which show how much we've evolved in the last few years.

Today I've gathered 20 different casual outfit ideas you can easily recreate. My whole goal here is to show you outfits that scream ''I'm super cool and I didn't just spend 2 minutes picking my outfit, but I actually did.''

There comes a time is everyone's lives where we don't feel like doing anything. It's just something we all experience at some time or another. You might be absolutely in love with what you do and so committed to it that you end up spending way too much time doing that thing you love and that will eventually end up with you just feeling completely exhausted. That is called a burnout.

As I said above, this is fairly common among people but I feel like it's even more common among people whose jobs involve a lot of creative work: bloggers, youtubers and just content creators in general. These are jobs that require your mind to always be thinking of new ideas and that, quite frankly, is quite exhausting. With that being said, I'm not trying to diminish anyone's work here as everyone can (and will) experience a burnout at a certain point.

Having been through the biggest burnout I've ever experienced in my 5 years of blogging just a few months ago, I've noticed when I do certain things or change certain habits, my creative juices flow much more easily and that feeling of exhaustion is pretty much gone. Today I'm here to share a few tips with you.

Take some time off

Starting off with something kind of obvious. When facing a burnout, the first (and best) thing to do is to walk away either for a few minutes, hours or even days. You should give your brain time to rest and get it working again. Just walk away from your computer for as long as you need without worrying about it. Trust me, you'll come back stronger than ever and ready to tackle all your to-do's.

Get a good night's sleep

I can't tell you how important a good night's sleep is. Getting enough sleep will instantly improve your mood, thus increasing your productivity and creative flow. Experts recommend getting at least 7/8 hours of sleep every night.

Don't overschedule

This is more of a preventive tip then anything but also important. Make sure you know your limits. If your schedule for today looks like this:
  • Write 5 blogposts
  • Take photos for instagram
  • Edit said photos
  • Have lunch with Jane
  • Go to the gym
  • Buy groceries
  • Meal prep for the week
  • Go to networking event
then you need to stop right now. Unless you're some kind of queen of multitasking and your day has 35 hours instead of 24, you won't do half of the things you've scheduled. Even if you do manage to do all of these things you'll feel exhausted. Try to divide your tasks into things you have to do that day and things that can be postponed and give priority to those that actually need to be completed that day.

I find that reading helps me not only to relax but to also get inspired. Books, blogs and magazines are my go-to's when I feel stuck and on the verge of a burnout.

Don't be afraid of asking for help

If things get too overwhelming for you, ask for help. If someone can tackle those emails that have been sitting on your inbox waiting for a reply for God knows how long, let them do it for you. We're not super-humans, there's no shame in asking someone to lend you a hand.

Pinterest is my favorite social media platform. It is also the social media platform that brings the most traffic to my blog. On average, I have 9000 people viewing my Pinterest profile daily, which results on a whole bunch of new readers every week. Pinterest is the most amazing place to promote your content in my opinion, so I thought I'd share my favorite tips on how to drive traffic to your blog through Pinterest.

Create images your readers will love (and Pinterest too)

Pinterest images have some sort of formula for success. It's pretty simple, to be honest, but it'll make a huge difference in your traffic. Your Pinterest images should have good quality, should be long (Pinterest recommends 600 x 900, but I prefer to make my images 650 x 1200), should all have the same color palette and should have something that will make a person identify a certain pin as yours. Here's an example:

There are a ton of places you can use to create pin-worthy images. My personal favorite is Canva. It's easy to use and you can actually save your graphics, which means you can use them as templates for later use.

Design Wizard is another great option for creating high-quality graphics. It holds over 1 million images and has great features such as a custom color palette, free font library and resize button.
Make good use of your pin's description

People can read what your image says, but Pinterest can't, so making sure the pin's description has a small summary of what your post is about will further the chances of your pin being found by new people. Also, use hashtags! This is something I've discovered recently actually but I've already noticed it makes a great difference on how many people my pin reaches.

Group boards are the way to go

I have a whole blogpost dedicated to this topic. Group boards are a God-send for bloggers. They are the best way to get your content out there for other people to read. I have my own group board for bloggers to share their content and have made a blogpost listing my favorite group boards on Pinterest.

Make sure you get your bio right

Your name and bio is the first thing people see when they access your Pinterest profile (along with your cover but more on that below) so they should reflect who you are and what you do. Your bio should be short and straight to the point. As you can see from the image below, my bio reflects what my blog is about.

Make sure you use certain keywords that show what you do as it'll make it more likely for your profile to pop up when people search for that specific keyword.

Take advantage of your cover
As you can see from the image above, the pins on my cover are all from my blog (and an occasional Instagram pic too). This can be easily achieved by choosing to only have pins of a certain board on display on your cover. I chose my 'The European Closet' board, where I post all pins related to my blog, but you can choose whatever board you want

Schedule your content

Tailwind is your Pinterest best friend, let me tell you. It saves you so much time as it schedules your pins for you and posts them for you. If you use the free version you only get 100 automatic postings but even if you pass that limit and are not willing to spend money on the plus version, you can still use it to your advantage. Just schedule in all the pins you want and then access the app or website and click pin whenever you want.

Tailwind also has this cool feature called tribes where you can post your pins and people will schedule them on their profiles to go live on their Pinterest accounts.

Procrastination: something we all want to avoid, but that sometimes we just can't escape. I honestly think it's in our DNA to be a bit lazy from time to time, and that's totally fine. What is not fine is not getting things done because you're 'naturally a procrastinator'. If you want to know how to avoid procrastination and be a more productive human being, here are 8 tips:

Break large tasks down into smaller steps: this way you can have a clear vision of what steps you have to take in order to complete a certain task .

Identify your top 3 priorities of the day and focus on them: anything that is not on that top 3 can be postponed.

Schedule in your habits and daily routine: you can have a clear vision of when to do what.

Create a checklist for reoccurring tasks: reduces friction and motivates you to work.

Have a clean workspace: clear space clear mind.

Eliminate distractions: my phone can be a huge distraction for me so what I do is keep it on the other side of the room on mute.

Delegate a certain time for each task: I recommend setting a timer for 10 minutes. If after those 10 minutes you still don't feel like doing that task, move on to another and come back later.

Allow yourself to have a break: this is vital to avoid burnout. Allowing yourself to unwind will actually help you be more intentional with your time and be more productive.

Spring is right around the corner, which means we're about to see all the trends we've seen during fashion week jump into the streets. A few of these trends have already been out for a while and we've seen them all over Instagram already but others are brand new and super exciting! From all the trends I've seen on the latest fashion week shows, here are my top favorite ones:

Bows are a huge trend this year, more so when it comes to accessories than clothes. I've been loving seeing girls with their hair tied with bows.

Boiler Suits

Boiler suits are the perfect clothing item to wear when you don't want to spend a lot of time deciding on what to wear. It's something that can be easily dressed up or down. In this case, accessories will decide that for you.

Sage Green

I used to hate green with a passion but ever since I got my first green military jacket a few years ago, I love it. Sage green is probably my favorite shade of green as it's not too vibrant but also not too muted.

This color has become a culture classic in the past few years so it's not a surprise that it's all the rage this year too. I personally love nude tops and jackets.

Powdery Ballet Pink

Ah, pink. I love pink. This pink is more on the muted, dusty side, which is my favorite kind of pink. It's a lot more wearable than bright pink and it goes really well with white, black and brown. This is not the only shade of pink that is trending this year: pressed rose, and pink peacock are also very big this S/S.

This is my favorite trend of all. I absolutely love ruffles. I just think they give such an elegant touch to an outfit. Ruffled tops are my favorite but ruffled skirts and dresses are also super pretty,

Hair Clips

I used to love hair clips when I was younger so this is a favorite of mine. Hair clips with words and little pearls are my favorites.

Top Handle Bags

Oh my God what throwback! I honestly don't remember the last time top handle bags were such a big thing. It seriously gives me a ton of early 2000's vibes and I'm living for it.

What is your favorite trend right now?

  • These are free for personal use on your phone only.
  • They must not be redistributed or used commercially.
  • If you post one on Pinterest or Instagram, you must provide a link back to or @theeuropeancloset
