February Favorites

Thursday, February 27, 2020

February is almost over? How is that possible? Am I the only one who feels like this month flew by? I think this is a normal feeling though. Everyone says January always goes by super slow so when February comes, it seems like it just comes and goes. I've gathered a few favorites which I thought I should share with you guys. Maybe you'll discover something or someone interesting. #lifestyle #favorites

February is almost over? How is that possible? Am I the only one who feels like this month flew by? I think this is a normal feeling though. Everyone says January always goes by super slow so when February comes, it seems like it just comes and goes.

This month went by totally differently from January in terms of time to myself. I spent pretty much all my month of January studying for my uni exams and reading books for oral evaluations. I didn't really have any time to watch TV or be up to date with product releases and stuff like that. February was my ''recovery month''. I binge-watched a bunch of shows, listened to all the new album releases I've been interested in and pretty much just caught up to all the news of January. By doing so, I've gathered a few favorites which I thought I should share with you guys. Maybe you'll discover something or someone interesting.

Shows

Search WWW

I'm still not done with this drama (I still have 5 episodes left to watch) but I'm loving it so far. It's completely different from the previous kdramas I've watched. Here women are in charge. The whole story revolves around a woman called Bae Tami who works at an internet browser company but is fired unjustly after exposing the truth about the company. She then starts working at a rival company. I don't want to say anymore as I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say you should really watch it. It'sn a super addicting show.

Melting Me Softly

I watched this drama in about 3 days, I was that hooked. This drama is about a man and a woman who undergo a science experiment where they are supposed to be frozen for 24 hours. However there's an issue (that I'm not going to spoil here), and they end up being frozen for 20 years. They wake up in 2019 and have to adapt tho the changes the world underwent from 1999 to the present year. This drama has the perfect amount of dramatic scenes and comedy so I really loved it.

The Good Doctor

Ah, I love this show! This is pretty much the only show I watch on my actual TV. Season 3 has me feeling some type of way. I gotta be honest, I'm not 'team Carly'. If you haven't watched this show I highly recommend you do.

Chicago Med

Can you tell I love medical shows? I started watching Chicago Med during Summer but recently I've been re-watching it with my mom as it has finally started airing on Portuguese TV. This has kind of become a ritual of ours. We sit down with our lattes and biscuits and watch one or two episodes.

Youtube

Justinebujo

If you've read my 'Stationery Favorites', you know I love journaling. Justine was one of the youtubers who convinced me to get my own 6 ring binders. I really love watching her videos. Her journaling style is right up my alley. If you're thinking about starting to journal, I'd highly recommend you subscribe to her channel.

Rowena Tsai

There's something about Rowena's videos that make me feel super soothed and relaxed. I think it's her voice. Rowena's content revolved around personal development, productivity, organization and much more. My favorite thing about her channel is how she manages to quote a bunch of books in all of her videos. I've gotten a bunch of book recommendations from her.

MuchelleB

Michelle's channel is similar to Rowena's in terms of content, although I do feel like she focuses more on the topics of organization and productivity. I watch Michelle's videos time and time again because I feel like I always learn something new every time I watch her.

Music

Map of the Soul: 7

When I started to think about my favorite songs of the month a few came to my mind, but when it came to BTS I couldn't choose just one song. Map of the Soul 7 came out last week and I've been listening to the whole album non-stop. I can't really choose just one song as my favorite, I seriously love them all. If I could recommend only 5 songs though I'd say you should listen to 00:00, Filter, ON, My Time and UGH!. Heck, just listen to the whole album, you will not be disappointed.

Everglow DunDun

I've been keeping my eye on Everglow ever since they debuted last year so I was really excited when I heard they were having a comeback this month. They did not disappoint in the slightest. DunDun has been stuck in my head for weeks now.

Books

I'm gonna be honest, I haven't read a single book all the way this month. I've started Atomic Habits by James Clear and so far I'm loving it. I've read Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro for an oral evaluation at my university but I've actually really enjoyed the book.

12 Winter Outfits Using White Jeans

Monday, February 24, 2020

We usually associate white or light colored jeans with spring and summer. Not only jeans, but all light colored items of clothing. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the fact that dark colors capture heat while light colors repel it. Well, today I'm here to contradict this. I've gathered a few outfits to show you how you can wear light colored jeans during winter too. Oh and I've also threw a few spring-ish outfits in there for the upcoming season, just for good measure! #whitejeans #outfitideas #stylingwhitejeans

14 Easy Organization Tips For The Naturally Messy

Wednesday, February 19, 2020

Do you sometimes have this urge to just take everything out of their place and re-organize everything? Cause I do. All the time. Just yesterday, I randomly decided that I was tired of my bedroom's layout and decided to move around all the furniture. I also re-organized my books, clothes, and stationery. I find it quite relaxing to do stuff like this. It's also a great way to keep myself accountable for the stuff I own.

I know a lot of people aren't organization fanatics like I am and don't know all the tips and tricks out there (I don't either, don't get me wrong). If you are one of those people who want to organize your space but don't know how to start or what to do, this post is for you. I've curated a list of my favorite and easiest organization tips I know specifically for those people who are naturally messy.

  • Group similar items together
  • Once you don't need a certain item anymore, put it back in its place
  • Give your space a good clean once a week
  • Declutter your wardrobe when transitioning into another season
  • Keep your desk clean by only having the absolute essentials on top of it. The rest can go into storage boxes/ drawers
  • Label your storage boxes
  • Organize your books by color. It will look a lot tidier
  • Repurpose old boxes and trays to organize your trinkets. These can also be used as drawer organizers
  • And if you don't have old boxes and trays, get some at the container store. Trust me, you'll thank me later
  • Start practicing the ''one in, one out'' rule
  • Fold your clothes the Marie Kondo way to save space
  • Organize your bag by having smaller pouches inside of it. It'll be a lot easier to find that hair tie you are looking for
  • Clear out your bag once a week. Throw away receipts, random food wrappers and everything else you don't need
  • If you do need certain receipts, scan them into an app. I use Evernote to do this

Pinterest Keyword Research Made Easy: How To Do It And Why It's Important

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

Pinterest keyword research is much easier than you might think. Pinterest is a great place for you to do your keyword research In this little guide I've put together, I'll show you how you can use Pinterest for keyword researching in order to get more people to visit your blog and increase your blog's pageviews. #pinteresttips #bloggingtips #keywordresearch

When writing a blogpost, something you need to pay attention to is which keywords you are using. Keywords are extremely important for the performance of your blogpost, as they help you rank higher in search engines.

Pinterest, being a huge search engine these days, is a great place for you to do your keyword research In this little guide I've put together, I'll show you how you can use Pinterest for keyword researching in order to get more people to visit your blog.

HOW DO KEYWORDS WORK?

Keyword researching basically means you search for certain words within the topic you want to write about and see how they are performing. Your main goal should be to find keywords that people are actually searching for.

Keywords let search engines know that your blogpost is about a specific topic. For example, let's say you wrote a post called ''How I made my first 1000$ blogging'', one of your keywords should be ''make money blogging''. When people search for that term, your post will be recommended.

HOW DO I PERFORM KEYWORD RESEARCH ON PINTEREST?

Keyword researching on Pinterest is actually astonishingly easy. All you have to do is search on Pinterest for something in your niche like for example ''how to style''. As you can see from the image below, there are a variety of different topics under the keyword ''how to style''. You can then browse through the pins and see what kind of content is ranking the highest on Pinterest.

Pinterest Keyword Research Made Easy: How To Do It And Why It's Important

If you want to get more specific (which you totally should), the dropdown menu is a great place to do so. As you type in your keywords, other combinations will appear. These combinations are what people are topics people are currently searching for so they could be great keywords for you to target.

Another great place you can look for is the little carrousel right above the pins. They also indicate what keywords are the most popular with Pinterest users. As you click on through them, your keywords will become more and more specific and will reach a point where the carrousel will just disappear. This indicates that  Pinterest thinks that the keyword is already specific enough that you don't need to dig deeper into it.

Pinterest Keyword Research Made Easy: How To Do It And Why It's Important

Let me remind you that the more specific your keywords are, the better the chances of your post ranking higher. However, that also means you will target a smaller audience. My suggestion would be to have a healthy mix of broader keywords and specific ones.

WHERE DO I PLACE MY KEYWORDS?

Your keywords should be in two places: your blogpost title and your blogpost description. Your pin description is the most important place in my opinion.

You have 500 characters to use to your advantage so use them wisely. Create the longest description (within that 500 character limit obviously) you can where you include your keywords in a natural way. Don't just write something like '' How to style jeans; jeans outfits; how to wear jeans".  Write a small text previewing your blogpost. This is actually much more helpful for you as you can use keyword variations, and thus have a higher chance of ranking high on Pinterest. You can also add two or three keywords in the form of hashtags at the end of the description Here's an example of how I write my keyword descriptions.

20 Winter Outfits For Those Who Can't Live Without Sneakers

Saturday, February 01, 2020

During winter, we're used to wearing boots all the time. Besides being warm, they are the best way to protect our feet from the rain and snow. But what if you're just not into boots? What do you wear? Sneakers. I love sneakers. I pretty much wear exclusively sneakers. Of course, I do have my few pairs of boots that I adore, but it's much more likely that you'll see me walking around in sneakers than in boots. Here are 20 winter outfits using sneakers.

Stationery Favorites

Stationery is not something I really talk about here on the blog. I mainly focus on fashion-related content (my blog name is The European Closet after all), but I've decided that this year I would like to talk about stationery a little bit.

I am completely obsessed with stationery. I'm that person who can't see a pretty notebook without buying it, even if I already have 20 other notebooks lying around at home. The same goes for washi tape, pens, you name it. Something about pretty stationery just makes me super happy.

To start off this new series of stationery-related posts I've decided to show you guys some of my favorite stationery I currently own. Most of this stationery is from Aliexpress, but there are some other things I got off of some other stores/websites.

NOTEBOOKS/ NOTEPADS

Among all of my notebooks/notepads (trust me, there are a lot) these 3 are my favorites. First off we have my bullet journal. My sister gave me a Leuchtturm 1917 dotted notebook as a Christmas gift and I've been using it as a bullet journal. I'm relatively new to bullet journal, only having started in September of last year, but I must say I don't think I'll ever go back to a traditional planner.

Then we have my 6 ring binder. I got inspired to buy this one after I discovered a bunch of Korean YouTubers who used them as some sort of scrapbook/diary/planner. 6 ring binders all the rage in korea right now and the trend is slowly coming to the west. I bought mine from aliexpress as well as the inserts. I use this binder for creative journaling and to store my kpop photocards. By the way, can you tell who my BTS bias is based on my cover and keyring?

The memo pad pictured above is from Old English Co. They sent me this to-do list memo pad along with some other things about 2 years ago. I mainly use this to make grocery lists for when I have a ton of tasks to be completed.

PENS /MARKERS /BRUSH PENS

Man, I love writing utensils. The number of pens and markers I own is ridiculous. My favorite pens right now are the Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.5 pens. I own this pen in a bunch of different colors.

If you're into calligraphy I would 100% recommend the Tombow Dual Brush pens. they are a bit pricy but if you want something that had very good quality, these are the way to go in my opinion.

My most recent purchase, marker wise, were these Zebra Mildliners. I've seen everyone and their grandma raving about these so I decided to give them a go. So far I'm completely in love. Would definitely recommend it.

STICKY NOTES /MEMO PADS

I love cute sticky notes. It's a weakness of mine. I use these on my creative journaling spreads, my bullet journal, and my school notes. Most of the ones I own have sticky backs while others don't. I can't tell you which ones I prefer to be honest, both types are great for different things.

Most of my sticky notes are from aliexpress and my local stationery store, but I also have ones that came with my Mr. Wonderful planners and Old English Co.

WASHI TAPES

Ah, washi tapes. The biggest stationery temptation for me. I can't lie, I love me some cute washi tape. I've been collecting washi tapes since 2014. Some came and went, others still stand strong, and others have been replaced by their sisters/brothers over and over again.

I love using washi tape everywhere I can. There's no notebook of mine that doesn't have the least bit of washi on it. Washi tape is also a great way to hang posters on your walls because it doesn't really damage them.

My washi tapes come from Flying Tiger, eBay, Joom, Aliexpress, and local stationery stores.

STICKERS

Last but not least we have stickers. I've been trying to incorporate stickers more into my bujo spreads and journaling spreads to compensate the fact that, right after washi tape, this is my most purchased stationery item. I've got all kinds of stickers: food ones, animal ones, functional ones, and, of course, BTS ones because I'm a BTS whore.

Again, most of my stickers come from Aliexpress. I have some I got from eBay and I also have ones that came with my Mr. Wonderful planners and my ''Love Yourself: Answer'' album.

24 "I Only Have 15 Minutes To Get Ready" Outfits

Tuesday, January 07, 2020

I've come up with 24 easy-to recreate outfits that you can put together quickly on those ''I only have 15 minutes go get ready'' days. When coming up with these outfits, I tried to keep them as simple as possible- outfits you can just put together in a time-crush and that don't need to be thought over. #fashion #quickoutfits #easyoutfits

There are times in our life where we are short on time to get ready: whether that is because we pressed the snooze button too many times to keep count, or because something came up around the house that needed to be solved immediately. When that happens, what we'll wear that day is not something we really pay attention to. The first thing that you see is what you grab and wear. That sometimes leads us to wear outfits that don't really match or don't really look good on our bodies. Well, today I'm here to *try* and solve that.
